King’s Day (Koningsdag) is an orange-filled celebration held annually for the king’s birthday on 27 April. It is renowned for being one of the biggest and most colourful festivities in the Netherlands. Oningsdag (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkoːnɪŋzdɑx]) or King’s Day is a national holiday in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Celebrated on 27 April (26 April if the 27th is a Sunday), the date marks the birth of King Willem-Alexander.
We served on the King’s Day as it would not be complete without authentic Dutch Cuisine and Beer. Pomme Frites, Tompouce, Raclette, Krokketen and typical Dutch sandwiches are just a few of the items to explore at the festival. Although the flag of the Netherlands is red, white and blue, orange is the colour of the royal family. It is an important day for Dutch Elders
