Is Home Support right for you?
The Home Support Program is designed for people who can manage everyday life within the community, providing they receive a small amount of assistance (either ongoing or short-term). People who access the Home Support Program generally only need 1-2 types of services to maintain their safety and independence.
You may benefit from our Home Support Program if you require:
- Basic support at home, such as personal care or domestic help
- Assistance to remain socially connected with your community
- Help to find services that speak your language or understand your culture
- Help to find safe and secure housing, if experiencing homelessness
If your needs are more complex, a Home Care Package may suit you better.
Are you eligible for the Home Support Program?
If you meet certain criteria, you may be eligible for funding that subsidizes your Home Support services. The first step to accessing funding is organizing an assessment with My Aged Care.
To qualify for an assessment, you must be aged:
- 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people), or
- 50 years or older (45 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) and on a low income, homeless, or at risk of being homeless.
If you’re not eligible for an assessment, or you are waiting to be assessed, we can still help you with our Private Home Care services.
