Across MiCare’s residential aged care facilities and retirement villages, Christmas celebrations have begun. Here’s a sneak peek into the celebrations:
Prins Willem Alexander Lodge in QLD had a big Christmas extravaganza! After the hot Queensland summer day, the sun finally set behind the gum trees and our Christmas lights started to shine! Our Juliana and Beatrix balconies started to fill with Elders’s families and friends. The Amalia courtyard became a destination for Elders from Amalia, Mollee, Jonkers, and Maxima. The Retirement living residents joined us to bring the whole village together! We had traditional mulled wine, homemade punch, and Christmas cake for all to enjoy. Our Prins Willem Alexander Lodge choir entertained everyone with a selection of carols, along with a special solo performance by Beatrix Elder Lynette Papajcsik Carolyn, our guest pianist, and our conductor Elder Marie Hambelton from Jonkers. Entertainer Craig Shaw brought the night together with a wide cross-section of Christmas songs! A perfect Christmas summer night Queensland style!!
Our Victoria homes, Avondurst Lodge, and Overbeek Lodge have had week-long Christmas celebrations. Students from St Richard’s School in Kilsyth visited Overbeek Lodge to sing Christmas carols for our Elders. Each of our houses in Avondrust Lodge has Christmas celebrations, pamper-yourself sessions, and happy hour. Elders enjoy their time signing carols and drinking together. Our Retirement village Princess Margriet Village had a lovely party in their gazebo. There was lots of food, laughter, and giggles.
