Australia Day Celebration
The social support group had a fantastic time celebrating Australia Day, filled with fun and laughter. Highlights of the day included a lively thong tossing competition and an Aussie slang quiz that had everyone in stitches. It was a great way to connect, share laughs, and embrace the Aussie spirit together.
The celebration doesn’t stop there—Australia Day festivities will continue all week with all the social support groups, ensuring even more opportunities for fun, connection, and enjoyment. It’s been a wonderful way to celebrate Australian culture and create lasting memories with friends and community members.
Australia Day is an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s complex history, celebrate the resilience and diversity that define us , and acknowledge the contributions of every Australian. We would also like to recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s sovereignty over the land was never ceded, and the comprehensive truth of Australia’s colonial history, including the injustices of dispossession, remains largely unacknowledged and untold.
