MiCare Avondrust Lodge Opening

Avondrust Lodge is a newly built, state of the art aged care home in Carrum Downs.  It is next to the shopping centre and surrounded by parklands and gardens.

The large rooms with their own ensuite is just one of the outstanding features, there are shared lounge and dinning areas, balconies and quiet sitting areas.  The newest technology has been installed for comfort of our Elders and Elders who have moved in are happy to live in such a warm setting with ongoing support and cared for by trained staff.  Our Clinical team is made up of highly skilled nursing staff, a nursing practictioner and numerous allied health care workers who attend when needed.  Importantly our staff are trained in the Eden Alternative which puts the Elder at the center of their care.

Petra Neeleman, the Executive Director of MiCare who is also the founding member of the Eden Alternative in Australia, stated that “We are fortunate to work in our Elder’s home and we understand that people need to have meaningful relationships and purpose throughout their lives.”  She added “We all work with values that are shared by our Elders and their families and hope that we can make a difference in large and small ways”.
