“Be a Latino” Day | MiCare

“Be a Latino” Day

MiCare celebrated a fantastic “Be a Latino” day, which was a huge success!

Hosted by the Latin American Community of Australia (LACA) and in collaboration with Prins Willem Alexander’s Lifestyle Team, the event aimed to showcase the rich music, food, and folkloric dances of Latin America. With the help of our amazing catering team, we made fresh empanadas and arepas. The highlight of the day was a spectacular performance by renowned Latino singer and dancer Rodrigo, who joined us for the event. Rodrigo, along with Mercedes Sepulveda, MiCare’s Cultural Advisor, performed the traditional Chilean dance Cueca la Rosa con el Clavel.

Our Elders participated from the balconies and the Amalia courtyard, soaking in the sunshine and vibrant atmosphere. The stunning costumes and lively performances created an upbeat, dynamic experience enjoyed by everyone. A heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who put their passion and effort into making this day such a success!

Social Support Group

I attend the MiCare Social Support Group to connect with people, share a nice meal, and enjoy the company—I would truly miss it if I couldn’t attend. I look forward to the bus outings, as they give me the chance to socialise with others. The MiCare Social Support Group makes a big difference in my life. It gives me a reason to get up in the morning, stay active, and most importantly, have wonderful conversations with everyone. I chose MiCare after carefully considering different providers, and I’m very happy with my decision. My Home Care Package case manager at MiCare is always helpful and keeps in regular touch with me, which I really appreciate. I also enjoy living at MiCare Village in Carrum Downs, with the convenience of having the doctor and shops right next door.
