Geoff Taylor is a very talented and seasoned didgeridoo player having grown up with the sounds of the Indigenous instrument. He now travels around Melbourne to aged care facilities and schools to share his experiences and talents. He also talked about our rich Australian history. And shared some wonderful Australian poetry which the Elders really enjoyed.
Geoff played with various different types of traditional didgeridoos made of different types of wood.
Geoff self-admits he has been a ‘a larrikin all his life’ before he plays various types of cylinder-shaped objects including a pipe from a vacuum cleaner and a roll of pink wrapping paper much to the amusement of both staff and Elders.
One of our Elders, Harold (above), who manages a vegetable garden at Margriet Manor, had a go at playing the didgeridoo. What a new and exciting experience for Harold!
Thank you again to Geoff for coming in and putting on a very entertaining performance. Both our staff and Elders definitely got a few laughs out of it.
