About the Home Support Worker Role
As a Support Worker, you will support older people to live safely and independently in their own homes. Your role may include:
- Personal care (showering, dressing, grooming)
- Domestic assistance (cleaning, laundry, meal preparation)
- Social support and companionship
- Transport to appointments and community activities
- Supporting clients to maintain independence and wellbeing
Qualified Care Worker
Some of the duties include:
- Helping clients with domestic activities such as light cleaning, shopping, laundry and meal preparation
- Supporting clients with their personal care needs e.g. showering and dressing.
- Working independently with one client at a time, you’ll be able to build a more personalised relationship.
Unqualified Care Worker
Some of the duties include:
- Helping clients with domestic activities such as light cleaning, laundry and meal preparation
- Assisting clients by collecting groceries
- Unqualified care workers do not provide personal care such as showering and dressing, or participate in any activities which require transport of the client.

Complete a traineeship or student placement with MiCare
At MiCare we have a proud history of supporting career progression. We offer traineeships for relevant courses in partnership with school, tertiary institutions and employment agencies. We are committed to your career progression and can offer you pathways to other roles of the organisation by supporting your student placement or supporting you as a new graduate to transition more smoothly from study to employment.
We welcome students who are nearing completion of their course and are looking for student placement. We accept students enrolled with a Registered Training Organisation for the below listed courses:
- Certificate III in Individual Support
- Certificate IV Ageing Support
- Certificate IV and Diploma in Leisure and Health
- Diploma of Nursing
- Bachelor of Nursing
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Master of Social Work
Our students are well supported and if positions are available, we interview and employ based on their suitability on a part-time or casual basis while they are completing their qualification. Student placement is a great way to get your foot in the door!
