Recently, our residents had the unique opportunity to connect with the heart of our culinary operations. With meals typically prepared off-site in our centralised production kitchen, direct interactions with the kitchen team are rare. However, the recent revamp of our menu sparked curiosity and excitement among residents, eager to see where their meals are crafted and to meet the chefs behind them.
In response, we organised a special day out, inviting residents to tour the production kitchen. The highlight was a delightful three-course lunch, specially prepared by our talented MiCare kitchen team. Transforming our humble staff room into a charming restaurant, the team provided an intimate and memorable dining experience.
Residents were thrilled to witness the scale of our operations—from the impressive kitchen equipment to the expansive production area—and to personally meet the chefs responsible for their daily meals. This experience fostered a deeper connection, appreciation, and sense of culinary pride among both residents and staff.
Such initiatives not only satisfy curiosity but also enhance the dining experience, aligning with the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards that emphasise the importance of food, nutrition, and dining experiences in promoting residents’ health and well-being.
