MiCare’s priority is protecting Elders (residents), staff and families from COVID-19 and maintaining clear and timely communications with our community.
When a resident shows flu-like symptoms they are immediately put into special care, isolated and tested, to minimise the chance of coronavirus entering or spreading within our care facilities.
At the same time, MiCare implements enhanced visitation restrictions until the test results are known, which usually takes 48-72 hours.
This is communicated immediately to residents, families and staff, so that everyone understands their responsibilities to maintain the safety of residents and loved ones.
Currently, MiCare is awaiting test results for two residents (one resident is at Margriet Manor and one at Overbeek Lodge) who were showing flu-like symptoms yesterday but are stable, comfortable and receiving the quality care and medical attention that we are proud to provide, 24 hours a day. We do not believe the cases are related.
Over the past two months, MiCare has tested approximately one dozen residents for COVID-19, immediately notifying residents, families and staff and implementing additional temporary, precautionary visitor restrictions. All the results to date have been negative.
We are totally committed to quality care and will continue being on maximum alert for COVID-19 for the foreseeable future.
